BUY LOCAL, SAVE BUCKS®

Not Just Your Garden-Variety Farmers’ Market

Did you know that the Buckingham Township Civic Association started the Doylestown Farmers’ Market in 1975 and that it was originally located in Buckingham? We have been proud to sponsor it ever since and we are thrilled at what it has become.

The Doylestown Farmers’ Market may change your mind about farmers’ markets. If you are expecting heaps of seasonal, certified-organic, pesticide-free and conventionally grown produce and herbs, yes, you’ll find those items here in abundance.

You will also find some rather unusual things such as warm alpaca socks, duck eggs, Tunisian organic olive oil, mushrooms of every size and shape—and the recipes to cook them—and even human-grade pet food and all natural soap products and sugar scrubs.

What else? How about an assortment of pickles and relishes and other ready-made foods such as sauces, vinegars, soups, spreads, pie fillings and marinated veggies? Want all natural, high quality beef and pork, non-GMO poultry and eggs? You’ll find it here.

Do you yearn for fresh baked goods? Chose from artisan breads, pastries, cakes, pies, muffins, donuts, quick breads, cookies, biscotti, Danish, gluten free items and scones. Need something to spread on the breads? The market has vendors who sell jams and jellies, marmalades and local raw honey.

Are you thirsty? There’s a vendor who markets locally roasted organic coffee beans and another who sells local estate-bottled wines. You’ll also find apple cider in season.

Like snacks? The market has granola and Farmstead fresh cheeses.

Want to beautify your house and yard or give a special gift? Vendors sell fresh cut flowers, bedding plants, perennials, nursery stock, handcrafted garden accessories and locally made crafts.

Wait, what’s that I hear? Could it be…live music? Yes!

What’s that aroma? Perhaps it’s a chef’s demo, with free samples.

Why are children flocking around that booth? They’re busy making seasonal crafts while their parents shop.

Why is there a table heaped with books? Because they are free for readers of all ages to take a few home—and if those readers want to donate a few of their own, so much the better.

The Doylestown Farmers’ Market is much more than just a place to buy fruits and vegetables. Vibrant and alive, the market is a Saturday morning institution in Doylestown from April to November.

What keeps people coming back is the opportunity to connect with the farmers and cooks and craftspeople who staff the market, supplying not only an endless array of products for your family, but eagerly sharing their expertise. Strolling amidst the bounty and greeting friends and neighbors—as well as favorite merchants—has become a cherished tradition.

Most of our vendors will be more than happy to accept preorders that you can pick up at the market.  That way, there'll be no wondering if your favorite item will be there for you.  Many of our vendors have interesting websites that give you more information about what they grow or make.

As you can see, our market offers a lot more than a place to shop. Come join us and see for yourself. If you do, perhaps you could stop by the Civic Association information booth and say hi to our two market managers—President Jan Tompkins and Vice President Nancy Bierly—who devote hundreds of hours to the market all year round (yes, even in the winter they are busily planning for the next season).

You’ll find the market on Saturday mornings from 7 a.m. until noon from the third Saturday in April to the Saturday before Thanksgiving in November on South Hamilton at West State Street.
